Writing has been something that I have always enjoyed. Perhaps it was due to my love of reading and wanting to craft my own stories. As a young teenager I would cut pictures of models out of the JC Penney and Sears catalogs and create character backgrounds for them. I had stacks of spiral notebooks full of stories, story ideas and topics.
While my writings stayed in journals and planners, I have always wanted to be a published author. Blogging was an idea I considered a few times but never committed to. After looking at my past accomplishments, I realized I still held onto the childhood dream of writing. This gave me the courage to jump in full force to follow the desire to write.
Mental Health is a passion of mine, as I grew up surrounded with family mental health issues. I personally struggle with anxiety, panic attacks and obsessive compulsive disorder. To better understand and help others, I studied psychology at the University of North Carolina in Asheville and graduated with a BA in Psychology.
As I work in the Early Childhood Education field, my goal is to help families, especially mothers, to better understand mental health. There is an unfortunate stigma with mental health that needs to be changed. Let’s be that change!
